The exodus of refugees broke the regional beliefs and habits and brought the integration of their own culture into the Provincialism existing in the India of 1947 to make a cocktail of diversity into a unity. The traditionalism of the regions which absorbed this exodus in a resilient manner, though they held onto their unique character, also brought about a uniformity. In other words, the Provincialism of Pre-Partition gave way to a Pan-India “Indianness”. The story is about two young girls who lived through such times.
